Brush Creek Towers - 1800 Brush Creek Boulevard Phone: 816-924-9162 Brush Creek Towers caters to senior and physically challenged tenants. Brush Creek Towers' 135 units feature studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. Ease of transportation and on-site staff provide residents with access to social service and healthcare providers.
Cardinal Ridge Apartments - 14200 East 49th Street Phone: 816-350-0038 Completed in 2001, Cardinal Ridge has become a nationwide model for the redevelopment of public housing. Cardinal Ridge is a community programmed for the 21st century, offering an array of residential choices and serving senior citizens and families with a broad mix of incomes. Cardinal Ridge Manor provides 90 one- and two-bedroom apartments for seniors. The Villas at Cardinal Ridge include 70 two- and three-bedroom town homes and apartments for families. It was the first development in the country to use HUD HOPE VI funds to place public housing in a mixed-income setting in a suburban area close to jobs and shopping. The Development is privately managed by Cohen Esrey Real Estate Services.
Chouteau Courts - 1220 Independence Avenue Phone: 816-968-4100 Currently under renovation, Chouteau Courts will offer families 134 units between one- and five-bedrooms in size. Financed in part by a $4 million bank loan, the innovative financing agreement is just the second of its kind in the country and allows the Housing Authority to complete the renovation project at Chouteau Courts by mid-2002.
Dunbar Gardens - 3392 Colorado Phone: 816-861-4475 Designed for easy compact living by seniors and physically challenged residents, Dunbar Gardens features 65 one- and two-bedroom units (including five wheelchair accessible). All units feature walk-up entries for easy access. The development's access to transportation and centrally located community room are important features of this community.
Family Development and Learning Center - 299 Paseo Phone: 816-221-3383 The FDLC serves as the centerpiece locations for HAKC's active Resident Services program. On-site children's day care is available for residents who choose to participate in the Family Self Sufficiency Program, job skills training, computer classes or any of the wide range of activities offered at the site.
Guinotte Manor - 1100 East 4th Street Phone: 816-842-9011 Guinotte Manor's location in the historic Columbus Park neighborhood, just east of the bustling River Market area offers a variety of activities for residents. The 219 units range in size from one- to four-bedrooms (16 wheelchair accessible). The newly constructed Guinotte Manor was dedicated in 2000 and designed to a true sense of community living. Plus Guinotte Manor is easily accessible to the Don Bosco Family Support Services facility, the Garrison Community Center, the Boys & Girls Club and the Division of Family Services.
Pemberton Heights - 3710 East 51st Street Phone: 816-861-8112 Located across from the Swope Parkway Medical Center, the 120 one- and two-bedroom units (11 wheelchair accessible), are especially designed for seniors. The secured entry, building monitors, and community garden offer peace of mind and convenience.
Riverview Gardens - 299 Paseo Phone: 816-221-3383 Conveniently located near downtown Kansas City, Riverview Gardens is especially popular with families with children of all ages. Completely renovated in 1999, the 232 units present one- to four-bedroom apartments (including 12 wheelchair accessible) with hardwood floors, washer/dryer hook-ups next door to the Family Development and Learning Center. Riverview is privately managed under contract with the Housing Authority.
Scattered Sites Phone: 816-968-4100 The nearly 450 Scattered Site homes offer residents the opportunity to experience public housing in beautiful new and renovated town homes, duplexes and single-family homes located throughout Kansas City. The HAKC Scattered Site homes fully embrace the 'deconcentration' of public housing away from the urban core and into suburban neighborhoods giving HAKC residents a choice of nine different school districts and more convenient access to jobs and services. HAKC Scattered Sites are privately managed under contract with the Housing Authority.
Theron B. Watkins Homes - 1301 Vine Phone: 816-471-2833 The 210 units at Theron B. Watkins were dedicated in 2000 after extensive renovation. Ranging in size from one- to five-bedrooms, each apartment home feature mini-blinds, washer/dryer hook-ups and large living quarters. Anchored by the Clymer Community Center, and conveniently situated on a bus line near the Historic 18th & Vine Jazz District.
Villa del Sol - 20th Street & West Pennway Phone: 816-221-1280 Comprised of both market-rate and public housing units, Villa del Sol's location overlooking the Kansas City skyline provides quick access to services on the Westside and major highways to all parts of the metro area. Completed in 1998, each of the 65 public housing one- to three-bedroom homes comes complete with a washer/dryer and unit alarm system. The Development is privately managed by McCormack Baron and Associates.
Wayne Miner Court - 1940 East 11th Street Phone: 816-471-4100 Early in 2003, renovation at Wayne Miner was completed. The 74 units in 15 buildings surrounding the original high-rise apartments received extensive environmental abatement and complete modernization. The apartment complex epitomizes the new look of Kansas City public housing, with new porticos and private entries for residents. The apartments are four- and five-bedroom units, and, as part of the revitalization, some five-bedroom units were converted to four-bedroom units to add more living area. Wayne Miner's clustered family feel, access to downtown and the large unit sizes appeal to families and their children.
West Bluff - 1210 West Bluff Phone: 816-471-4432 The 100 town homes offer one- to five-bedroom floor plans, accessibility to the Southwest Boulevard and the West Side community with convenient access to downtown. The family friendly community includes four wheelchair accessible units, playgrounds and Adult Education programs.
